PC Anywhere

Anyone seen this in PC Anywhere 11.5?
Happens after booting the pc, pre login…“awhost.sys has been disabled”

Symantec owns PC anywhere but there is nothing about that error message and in searching for it. I found only that the user profile has become corrupt.

I would remove the program compleatly, registry entries, folders etc. Down load the newest and try again.Have you using the newest dat files for your virus scanner and have you checked your system for malware?

In the Registry Editor dialog box, go to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>System>CurrentControlSet>Services>AW_HOST5 In the right pane, click Start.
6 On the Edit menu, click Modify.
7 In the Edit DWORD Value window, change “Value Data” to 1.-

We started getting the “awhost.sys has been disabled” error after restoring and repairing a Windows 2003 system – which should have had nothing to do with the PCAnywhere installation. Do you know what causes this to get disabled? I haven’t been able to find much…..

STEP 1
Run LiveUpdate
Run a tool to start LiveUpdate. RUN IT NOW
STEP 2
Modify the Windows AW_HOST registry key
1 Click Start > Run.
2 In the Run dialog box, type the following text:
regedit3 Click OK.
4 In the Registry Editor dialog box, go to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>System>CurrentControlSet>Services>AW_HOST5 In the right pane, click Start.
6 On the Edit menu, click Modify.
7 In the Edit DWORD Value window, change “Value Data” to 1.
8 Click OK.
9 Close the Registry Editor.
