    Win2k tcp/ip to win98

I’m having an interesting issue with a shared label printer on my network.

I have a win98 PC sharing a label printer. Another win98 machine can print to that share just fine. However, a win2k PC can add that printer to it’s printer’s but cannot print to it.

I don’t get an error message but I do get a message stating “Cancelled printing”, with an “Ok” button.

I uninstalled the label printing software and the printer from the win2k machine and shut it off. Turned it back on and installed everything again but, still no luck.

I called the label printer manufacturer and they said it’s a network issue and they don’t support network issue’s. I’ve checked the Microsoft TechNet and found no help there.

Just wondering if anyone else may have an idea as to what I could try.

    Thanks:)

sounds like me. heres the deal… win2k cannot see win9x computers unless you add them to the local SAM. Do that by adding the other win 98 machine to the users folder or activate the guest account. Better yet add the printer to the win2k machine and share it with the win 98 machines. that should work.

Did you add the “file and printer sharing on Microsoft Network” in the properties of network neighborhood on 98 machine?
