Can I change my domain logon password myself?

I have used a linux box on a Windows network at my university for twelve years. I was just assigned a domain username and password so that I can use the Windows boxes in our new department computer lab. The domain sysadmin uses a formula for username and password which can be guessed using publicly available information. So I naturally assumed that at my first domain logon I would be given a chance to change my password. But I was not.

How can I change my Windows domain password myself?

Say, if the password expires after so many days. Or, you could ask the domain administrator.

log on a Windows box and press CTRL-ALT-DEL. At the menu that results, click ‘Change Password’. Enter your old p/w, then the new one twice (once for ‘New Password’ and again for ‘Confirm’). If everything goes okay, you should get a message telling you your p/w has been successfully changed. Clicking OK will take you back to the same menu as C-A-D. Click Cancel to exit this menu; it doesn’t cancel your p/w change, just closes the menu.

Thanks for your responses. I should have thought of the Ctrl-Alt-Del. Haven’t had much experience with Windows. Went from CPM to Trs-Dos to Dos to Mac to Linux.
