Connecting HP Laserjet 4 plus to laptop

    Locked

    by rickvourganas ·

I really need help. I have a HP Laserjet 4 plus that is a great work horse. I can not figure out how to configure my laptop to communicate with the printer.

The printer has a serial cable and of course my laptop has only usb.

I do not have the appropriate driver as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need a USB to Centronics Lead here

And the drive that goes with it that is supplied with the lead. Like this one

As for the Printer Drivers they are available from HP here

Just open the link and select your exact model and download the drivers for your OS. Only possible problem is if the new NB has Vista on it there may not be drivers for this printer under Vista as Vista doesn’t support a lot of the older devices.

I was able to connect the HP laserjet 4 plus via the proper cable directly from the printer to the laptop as suggested. I found the proper printer driver on line.

Had to select a usb port and not a Lpt1 port, but my old laserjet works just a great as it use too.

Thanks to every one – Especially Larry
