Hello, I have an issue with employer surveillance. I work as a contractor and was given a company phone. The client I work for, or more precisely, the individual I was assigned under gas access to my phone. I don’t know if this was an agreement between the contract company and the client that I work for or I somehow gave him access. We also have a Windows tablet that he asked for TeamViewer permissions on so that he could show me how to do something. It’s not debatable he absolutely has access to my company phone. He will call me and repeat exact things I have said to the customers while the phone was in my pocket. Recently an email was sent by me that I didn’t send saying that I would be late for a meeting. He calls me after events like this happen all giddy knowing that I know and cant do anything about it. I need to know us this something that I allowed by given him TeamViewer access? I don’t have team viewer in my phone just the tablet. We do have a company teams. How can I stop this? This individual is a career killer and he not listening for any good reason.

Use your personal phone, contact their superior or whomever hired you and air your concerns with them.

It’s not your phone. It is a company phone so treat it for what it is.

If you used your own laptop/tablet/phone/device for TeamViewer then you allowed that access as well. Don’t use your own gear for any company work if you want said company to stay out of your devices.

How to remove? If they enrolled the tablet into some MDM you have to trash the tablet if the IT won’t de-enroll the device. Otherwise you factory reset phone, tablet, device to see if that will kick them out.

Finally you lodge complaints with the HR department.

I must agree with my fellow moderators on this topic. The OP has been offered some good advice already.

I must add that if any devices such as a phone, tablet, laptop, desktop computer, etc. were supplied by the employer, then the user doesn’t own it. Don’t attempt to format it or alter corporate access. Altering corporate-owned assets can get you fired and/or possibly fined. Definitely talk to HR to confirm your rights.

If the individual has access to your company phone and is monitoring your activities, it could be due to an agreement you’re unaware of or possibly unauthorized access. Given that you’ve only given TeamViewer access to the tablet, it’s concerning that he seems to have access to your phone as well. To address this, immediately report the issue to your contractor company’s HR or IT department. They should investigate the situation, clarify any agreements, and help you secure your devices. It’s crucial to protect your privacy and ensure that any surveillance is legitimate and authorized.

It’s likely that the individual is using some form of surveillance software on your company phone, possibly unrelated to TeamViewer access on the tablet. To stop this, report the issue to your contracting company’s IT department or HR immediately, and request a phone reset or new device. Also, consider disabling unnecessary apps and checking for any unauthorized software on the phone. Protect your privacy and document these incidents for your records.

It would be a serious breach of privacy if someone gained unauthorized access to your phone and email. The use of TeamViewer on your tablet should not affect your phone unless permissions were shared or granted. It’s important to report this issue immediately to your company’s HR or IT department for investigation and to secure your devices. Change all relevant passwords and check for any unauthorized apps or permissions to regain control over your personal and work information.

Here’s a straightforward plan to address the issue:

      1. Check Permissions:
      – Review app permissions on your phone and tablet. Look for anything suspicious and remove access if needed.

      2. Change Passwords:
      – Immediately change all passwords for your email, apps, and accounts connected to your work devices.

      3. Factory Reset:
      – Consider resetting your phone to factory settings to eliminate any unauthorized access. Back up your data first.

      4. Report to IT:
      – Inform your company’s IT department about the unauthorized access. They can investigate and secure your devices.

      5. Use a Personal Device:
      – Avoid using the company phone for personal matters. Switch to a personal device for anything private.

      6. Document Incidents:
      – Keep records of all suspicious activities, including unauthorized emails and conversations.

      7. Seek Legal Advice:
      – If the issue persists, consult a lawyer to understand your rights and possible actions.

      Hi there,

It sounds like you’re dealing with a serious privacy concern. Here’s what you can do:

Review Access Permissions: Verify if there were any agreements or permissions given related to phone access. Since TeamViewer is only on your tablet, the phone might have separate access.

Check Device Settings: On your phone, look for any monitoring apps or unauthorized access permissions. Also, check for any installed apps or profiles that might allow remote access.

Contact Your Company: Report the issue to your contract company’s IT or HR department. They should investigate and help you understand any agreements or access permissions.

Secure Your Devices: Change all passwords and ensure your devices are secured. Consider using a VPN and enabling two-factor authentication for added security.

Legal Advice: If the situation persists or escalates, seek legal advice to understand your rights and options.
