    WPA2 with Windows 2003 SP2 GPO

    Locked

    by kshah ·

    Hi

Windows Sever 2003 Service Pack 2 is supposed to include WPA2 access via
Group Policy as stated on the web page titled “What’s New in Windows Server
    2003 Service Pack 2” at:
    http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/library/cda7d603-fdd6-4a48-b045-89adac6e519e1033.mspx?mfr=true

However I can’t find WPA2 support in the wireless Network (IEEE 802.11)
Policies GPO node. I have verified SP2 is installed.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

      WPA2 with Windows 2003 SP2 GPO – same issue

      by dkressin ·

I’m having the exact same issue. I have 2003 SP2 and a few 2003 RC2 servers. I have installed a Vista client and ran the Group Policy Manager and I’m able to edit the wireless policy to WPA2 from WPA. My issue is once I do that it breaks the policy and my laptops in the wireless OU no longer receive any policy settings. I change the policy back to WPA and it works again. I’m wondering are there any additional updates to 2003 SP2 to allow WPA2?

          WPA2 network key entry

I am having the same problem. I can get the SSID to be added via my GPO. But I don’t see a place to enter the shared key. They only thing you can do is add it later, but I don’t want my users to have to do that, plus they don’t know the key. Can anyone point me in the right direction on this one? Just to clarify I need to add the shared key for my WPA2-PSK setup. Thanks

      Here’s an answer:

In all likelihood, you cannot see the node because you are trying to view it from an XP machine. If you view it from the workstation, you will only see the policied available from that workstation. You have 2 options, either RDP into a 2k3 box or register the particular DLL associated with that policy.

Also, I do not believe you can actually define a pre-share key via GPO. Although it gives you the ability to define a wireless policy that uses a PSK, it is not particularly useful. It’s more geared towards solutions with some sort of authentication server.

I’m not 100% on these, so I may be wrong.
